Designer Series Paper Sets the Stage

This card is a CASE of one I received from a friend. I didn't have the exact same DSP but found a piece that would work. If you look closely you will see I used my Simple Scored tool to dry emboss a frame around the DSP. Hello comes from the Honeycomb Hello stamp set.

It's Easier Than It Looks

 These cards have been showing up all over the web. They just require two cuts to make the folded corner. I followed Dawn Griffiths instructions on her video using Lovely as a Tree stamp set and Something to Celebrate for the sentiment.

After I finished with the masculine card I decided to CASE Dawn G's butterfly card. The Butterfly Thinlits really make some beautiful projects. Here I used Basic Black card stock with Hello Honey for the butterfly.

Then I realized I had cut and stamped one too many card bases and had to pull another piece of DSP from my stash. And that brought about this card.

We have so many parish birthdays in June that I am busy replenishing my stash.

Keep It Simple!

This card was designed around the band of ecru trim. A friend was given a box of quilting supplies and this trim was in the box. She didn't want the trim but thought I might use it. It is simple but very pretty. So, I decided the card should be simple, too. I looked through my Designer Series Paper and found this retired piece of Baja Breeze. I had the scrap of thin navy satin ribbon sitting on my desk. You won't believe where it came from... you know those ribbons they have inside garments to keep them on hangers. I always snip them because they always sneak out when I'm wearing the garment. And when I snip them I just can't throw them away.  This ribbon hadn't made it into my scarp basket yet. So, decided that would look really nice with the Baja Breeze. The sentiment comes from the Butterfly Basics stamp set.

More to Celebrate!

I'm celebrating this layout my niece led me to! It's a great way to use up scraps of Designer Series Paper as in the top photo. Then I thought, "What about using Washi Tape?" (second photo) and lastly I combined the two, DSP scraps and Washi Tape.

Do you notice the oval with the image in the bottom photo? Here's the story on it: I had all the DSP and Washi Tape adhered and noticed a faint black line running vertically in the bare white space right where I wanted to stamp the sentiment. Does this ever happen to you? I used to just scream and start over. But now I think, "How can I cover it up?"  Many times you can distress card in some way like sponge it or use a stamp set like Gorgeous Grunge. I really didn't think these patterns looked like distress images so I punched an oval, stamped it and then added the flower to cover up the last little bit of streak. The recipient will never know. (Unless, they read this blog!)

Celebrate!

I needed one more graduation card... at least I think I have them all covered now. So, a few more scraps of Designer Series paper and the same layout I used with a cupcake last week. I wasn't pleased with just the plain star of card stock, so I ran it through my Big Shot with the herringbone embossing folder.

Chalk Talk Framelits and Occasions Alphabet

This card is a CASE from the Occasions catalog. Today is the last day to order from it. The Because You Care hostess set has a border image that coordinates with Chalk Talk Framelits. I discovered it pairs perfectly with the retired Occasions Alphabet. I like pairing the old with the new. That is why I have such a hard time parting with any of my stamp sets!

CASE - ing the New Annual Catalog

Here's another card I CASEd from the new annual catalog. This one looks more complicated than it is. It just requires some punching with the Hexagon punch. The trick is to place the three stamped hexagons in the middle on the card first. I used dimensionals to adhere them to give the card some depth. Then it's a snap to add the two hexagons that I punched from Designer Series Paper. I always have lots of the little thin scraps of card stock (Raspberry Ripple here) and to be honest I don't usually even save ones this small. But I just looked to see what scrap was laying by my paper cutter and then chose the colors based on that scrap.
