What to Do with the Triangles?

These four cards were my biggest challenge. The directions from Linda Heller was to cut two 4x4 pieces from the Designer Series Paper. Then cut along the diagonal to make four rectangles. Three of her four cards were square cards. When you mail square envelopes you have to pay extra postage and USPS just doesn't like them. I know I could just put them in rectangular envelopes but I thought I'd just make the cards rectangular. You wouldn't believe how I struggled with what to do with that extra space in each card. But, I'm glad I did as I like the way they turned out.
The images are all from Stampin' Up!, although the one in the top card and the tree in the second card are retired. The" Hello Fall" is from For All Things in the Holiday Catalog. "Grateful for You" comes with the Merry Everything stamp set in the Holiday Catalog and the little heart in the bottom card is from the "Yee-Haw" Photopolymer Stamp Set (available while supplies last).
I used my Big Shot to emboss the paper on the top (Woodgrain embossing folder) and the bottom card (retired folder). Wouldn't the new Hearts Border punch be pretty along that edge instead... alas I do not have it yet! The third card was embossed "by hand" using the Simply Scored Scoring Tool and Simply Scored Borders Plate. It's another fun tool and technique that I like to create with.
The Big Shot was also used to cut the bottom Mossy Meadow tag (Chalk Talk Framelits) in the top card and the banners in the bottom card (Banners Framelits) and I used my retired Tasteful Trim Die to cut the zig zag pieces in the Hello Fall card.
The Scallop Edge Border punch was used in the first and third cards. I had to fussy cut the top tag in the the top card and the tree in the second card. Linen thread and the new In Color ribbon was used on the cards.
That's it for my 15 cards using just one sheet of Designer Series Paper!

Birdie Birthday

The Hello Love hostess set (133928 c, 133925 w) was used to make this birthday card. (CASE: Linda Heller from StampingSchool.com) I used a Bermuda Bay card stock base and then cut a strip of Designer Series Paper from the Confetti Celebration pack (133692). Then I edged the DSP with a strip of Crushed Curry card stock that was punched using the Scallop Edge Border punch (119882). The hole for the window on front was punched with the 1-3/4" circle punch. Then I lined up the birdie stamp and stamped onto Whisper White card stock. The word bubble requires the use of two stamps so I got out my Stamp-a-ma-jig (101049) to line up the expression inside the word bubble outline. This was cut out using the Word Bubbles framelits (132968). The bird was colored using the new Daffodil Delight Blendabilities markers ((130998). You need to stamp your image with the black Memento Pad (132708) when using Blendabilites markers. I am having so much fun coloring with these! I can't wait until I have all the colors.

Extra Large Cogs Double Punch

I have lots of the celery green dotted impression circles left over from making swaps for a regional earlier this year. Just can't throw them away. I turned the bumpy side down for these cards. I think the circles look more masculine that way. (Okay, maybe it's just me!) Then I pulled out the cogs punch. The cogs made me think of a couple expressions; just seemed to go together in my mind... thinking (cogs turning!) and turning (hopefully that ones is obvious).

The cogs punch is a Double punch. It took me awhile to figure out this punch. I have the best luck by placing it on the taple top and pushing it down on the table. You have to be sure to get that second snap.

The last card also uses the cogs punch. Do you see them? They are used to make the petals of the flowers. Punch a set from two different colors of cardstock, then layer them offsetting the teeth so that both colors are showing. The center hole is covered with a piece of scrap Designer Series Paper. I can't remember where I saw this or I would give credit where credit is due.
