CelebrateToday!

I got this idea from Pinterest and changed it around a litle bit. I did a free hand cut of the grad hat. The tassel for hat is one of the dies from the Balloon framelits. When I was ready to make the inside of the card I decided the negative space left over from stamping and cutting out the balloon would work perfectly.

Work of Art Calendar-October, November December

And the final three months!
For October I just hand drew the ghost and pumpkin faces with a black marker. November's leaf comes from the French Foliage stamp set (retired). The bow loops on December's wreath were made by inking just the edges of the Work of Art heart stamp. Then I hand drew the bow tails and the holy berries. It's hard to tell here that I used two shades of green to make the wreath. I used Pear Pizzazz and Wild Wasabi. I think next time I will pick a darker green than the Wild Wasabi. And yes, I need to make another one. This one went to one of our churches Fall Festival Silent Auction.  The other church has a Holiday Festival later this month. So, it's back to the stamping table!
Have a great weekend, see you on Monday.

2015 Work of Art Calendar-January, February & March

For the rest of the week I'll be sharing a fun calendar I made using the Work of Art stamp set. There are so many great ideas out there using this set. I had fun exploring and then creating a page for each month.
Here's the finished calendar hanging on my wall with January.

I used the same calendar document I created for the CD calendar, then layered that photo paper sheet on cardstock in a color that coordinated with the stamped image. The 4-1/4" x 5- 1/2" cardstock backing was also a color that coordinated with the stamped image. The images were stamped on a piece of 4"x 5-1/4" white cardstock. I punched two holes in the top of the backing cardstock using my Crop-A-Dile to punch through six sheets of cardstock at a time. Then I just ran a ribbon through the holes and tied it off to make the hanger.
The trees on January page are from the Lovely as a Tree stamp set, Febrruary's "love" comes from Best of Love stamp set (retired). All other images were created using the stamps in Work of Art Stamp set. Come back tomorrow to see the April, May and June pages!

Holiday Homes Calendar

I have been making CD case calendars for many years. After seeing the framed Holiday Houses for a Year on Butternut Sage Designs I decided to use the Holiday Home stamp set and Homemade Holiday framelits to make this year's calendar pages. The top photo shows the CD case set up to display the current month and store the extra pages. You do have to take the case apart and put it together "wrong" to get the display "easel".
I challenged myself to only use stamps in the Holiday Home set.
January was pretty easy since there are snowflakes and snowman included in the set.
February also was easy since the set has a cute little heart and I used the lamp post also in the set. A word of caution when using photopolymer stamps... they stick to everything! I used most of the stamps as I was making the calendar pages. I needed a clean block so I pulled the lamp post off a block and did not put it away in the case. When I was putting everything away I couldn't find that stamp. I searched everywhere on my desk top. Then I began to search on all surfaces. I had already put so many things away. After searching for well over 30 minutes I finally found it stuck to one of the ink pads I had used and put away. So, my advice, "Put the stamps in their case as you finish using them."
For March I used the heart stamp to make the clover and then grabbed my marker of the same color and made the stem free hand.
The next three months will be posted tomorrow.

4x4 Calendar

I'll be busy making calendars for our church's silent auction in November. This is a 4"x4" calendar I made last year for a friend and I'll be making similar ones for the auction. I picked a pack of Designer Series paper that had lots of colors and then designed my monthly pages around those colors. The cover used two pieces of the paper mounted on a piece of coaster board. For the monthly pages I just used a piece of card stock and added a piece of the DSP to the bottom.
I looked through my stamp sets, punches and die cuts to see what I had that could be used for each month's page. Then I looked through my ribbon and buttons to see what I had to add some bling.
The cover, back page and monthly pages were all punched with two holes at the top and then I used binder rings to hold it all together.
It was a lot of fun to make the pages and my friend was thrilled to get it. Guess I'll have to make her one for 2015.
