Oh, Happy Day

I didn't have any of the same elements in the card I CASEd so, just used the layout and made this card. I like the way all the pieces came together.

Product Focus: White Embossing Powder

I saw a similar card that Dawn Griffiths posted and decided to give it a try with stamps that I had. Here's my "Make a Wish" card. You may be wondering where the white embossing powder is used. All over the card! Everything is stamped using VersaMark and then heat embossed with white embossing powder. Then you color the embossing powder using Blendabilities markers. I used the medium color of Bermuda Bay and Melon Mambo and the lightest color of Daffodil Delight. I liked how Dawn used the Dotty Angles stamp set on the background layer. And I also got the idea for adding sequins from her card. I just cut off some of the sequins from the ribbon of Bermuda Bay trim that is in the Occasions catalog.
Then I made this card. I wasn't sure I would get a good enough impression of the medallion to heat emboss it. But it worked better than I thought. I like the way the "HAPPY" has a neon lights look to it.
I wanted to give the angle stamp in the Dotty Angles a try, too. Here's my card using it. I tried not to overthink the coloring of the angles. I didn't really want a pattern. That's not always easy for me. I can be too logical a thinker sometimes! But it's fun to just turn your mind off sometimes and let your hands do what they may.

Zig Zag!

Finally I started to use the larger two inch scraps of Designer Series paper. I wanted to make some simpler, more masculine cards for my husband's 'stash'. So, I just tried to keep it simple. I still feel like I should have made at least a knot in the ribbon but sometimes you just have to walk away from a card and call it done!

As promised both of today's cards use the zig zag from the Finishing Touches edgelits (127010). I will admit when I use this edgelit I have a tendency to put it on the paper with the zig zag along the card stock edge. I've found it works better for me the opposite way; putting the "straight" edge along the edge of the paper. That way you don't get a groove in your card stock along with the zig zag cut and it seem to line it up straighter for some reason.

The ribbon in both cards is retired Summer Starfruit 3/8" Stitched Satin. The expression in the card above is from the Lots of Thanks stamp set (129690 c, 129687w). The Midnight Muse card stock was embossed with the Zig Zag embossing folder (133738).
In the card above I cut the Cajun Craze card stock about 1/2" wider than the DSP so that I could cut both edges with the zig zag edgelit. The stamped image is from Starburst Sayings set (133185 c, 133182 w) and was cut using the Starburst framelits (132967).

Still more cards from that packet of scraps to come in tomorrow's post!

Tag Topper Punches

I have two cards to share today using the Tag Topper Punches. The first uses the Scalloped Tag Topper (133324) punch and then I used a square punch to notch the bottom of my tag. The sentiment comes from the Perfect Pennants stamp set (1332330 c, 133227 w).

The Make a Wish card was made using the Angled Tag Topper Punch (133323) and the Fringe Scissors (133325) for the lower edge. The sentiment is also from the Perfect Pennants stamp set (1332330 c, 133227 w).  I also used Starburst Sayings stamp set (133185 c, 133182) and coordinating Starburst framelits (132967). Ribbons are retired but there are so many pretty new ribbons in the catalog to choose from. Check them out on pages 206-207. Linen thread or Baker's Twine are great for using to secure the large ribbon.
